Rolled bobs take centre stage on the Badgley Mischka runway
Harking back to the 50s, the rolled bob was worn by sophisticated and feminine women. This hairstyle requires at least mid-length hair to be created successfully. The pros give their advice and top tips to make this beautiful hairstyle.
The hairstyles spotted on the Badgley Mischka catwalk were stunning, but not overly practical as an all-day hairstyle. ‘Whereas the front of the head is styled to perfection, the back is slightly more messy. If you don’t use enough pins, this style will fall out quickly. You will need to keep checking and adjusting your style throughout the day to keep this style in place.’
To create the rolled bob seen on the Badgley Mischka runway, its essential to prepare your hair before you start styling. ‘You need to straighten the hair, and curl the ends after. Also, make sure you use a styling mousse to create volume. Start by making a side parting. Next, straighten the hair so that you have a perfect base to start with before you begin to curl with a large barrelled iron. The curls should be big and bouncy, not tight or corkscrew-like.
Once you’ve created the curls, you need to start pinning the hair and styling. ‘Spray your hair with hairspray and then brush throughout the whole of the hair. This is what will create sublime waves. To replicate the rolled effect, roll the ends of the hair up on themselves and fix with a few bobby pins.
Our tip: Don’t try and create this look after you’ve had a blow-dry. Only curls created with a curling iron will work with this look.
