Choosing a flat hair brush

To maintain shiny, healthy hair, lots of thought must go into choosing a brush. It must be perfectly adapted to the length and type of your hair. Find out all you need to know before you splash your cash!

You use your hair brush mainly to detangle and style your hair. But it also has other functions. A hair brush stimulates the scalp by activating micro-circulation, and rids it of impurities. Choose it carefully and look after it! “Remove the hair that gets stuck in your hair brush every day and, once a month, clean it with warm water and shampoo.”

The flat brush is suitable for mid-length to long straight hair. Choose big brushes for these hair types. If you have wavy or curly hair, a round brush is best for you. As for frizzy or afro hair, stick to a wide-toothed comb.

You also need to think about the material your brush is made from. “The best brushes are boar-bristle brushes. These are soft and natural and gently detangle the hair, perfect for fine and fragile hair.” Nylon brushes are another alternative. Their bristles are also nice and soft, but better suited to thicker hair. These are kind to the scalp and will not damage your hair.

Our tip: Brushing your hair is important to ensure it stays healthy. Brush it for two minutes a day, one minute in the morning and one minute in the evening before going to bed. With your head upside down, start from the nape of the neck and brush up to the front of your hair. Do this on each side of your parting.
