Get gorgeous, long-lasting curls

Even natural curls sometimes need an extra boost. Here’s how to tame them and make sure they last as long as possible…

With your hair washed and still wet, soak up as much of the water as you can, using a towel. Be careful not to rub your hair too hard as you don’t want it to end up tangled or frizzy.

If you’re on a quest for long-lasting curls, you’re going to need to have the right styling products by your side. “For example, styling mousse. This helps to redefine curls whilst hydrating the hair’s fibres. It is best used on slightly damp hair. A small, coin-sized amount will be enough to create long-lasting curls.” Another essential item is a good curl defining product. “Just like mousse, this product will tame your curls, protect them from heat and banish frizz. This product works best on wet hair. Wrap pieces of hair around your fingers to create natural, bouncy curls.”

If you’ve got the time, the best thing to do is to let curly hair dry naturally, shaking it out from left to right to get natural, loose curls. “Hair-dryers can often be too powerful, slackening the hair’s fibres and causing your hair to lose its shape.” If you daren’t stray away from using your hair-dryer, compromise by attaching a diffuser and using the cool setting. “Let your curls fall naturally over the diffuser, which will reshape them all on its own.”

When it comes to styling your hair, steer clear of hairbrushes and combs. You don’t want to brush out your curls! “Gently run your fingers through your hair to loosen the curls and achieve a perfect finish!”

Our tip: It all starts with the right products. Curly hair needs lots of the right shampoo, conditioner and hair masks as well as hydrating treatments to deeply nourish the hair’s fibres
