In which order should you use hair oils, masks and shampoos?
Is your bathroom full of haircare products? You’re not the only one! However, it’s unlikely that you use each and every one correctly. So, do you know in which order you should be using hair oils, masks and shampoos? The pros share their top tips.
You should always apply hair masks after shampooing your locks. ‘Hair benefits from using hair masks more when used after your shampoo. When it comes to hair oils, the order all depends on the state your hair is in. If your hair is extremely dry, you can apply before your regular shampoo, despite this being an uncommon method. Some women like to apply oil to their hair at bedtime, then wash off in the morning. If you want to try this technique out, make sure you shampoo first and apply any hair masks afterwards’.
You can try applying all three products in one sitting. ‘It’s totally up to you to try out which combination of products works best for your hair type. The important thing is that each of your products come from the same haircare range to see real results. Each hair type is different: some prefer oils before using masks whilst others could be the complete opposite’.
Hair oils should only ever be applied to the lengths and ends of your locks. ‘Don’t make the mistake of applying oil to your roots, as this will only make them greasier and weighed down with product’.
Our advice: Choose your hair oil according to your hair’s individual needs. A dry oil will help you to style hair more easily whilst a thicker oil will deeply nourish damaged lengths.
