Hairstyle face-off: the twisted ponytail vs. the twisted chignon
The Twist appears in all your trendy hairstyles for the Autumn-Winter 2013-2014 season. Whether it’s with a high and feminine ponytail or in a messy French twist : the twist is unavoidable. A hairstyle celebrity, it is everywhere and combines romance with spontaneity. So which one? The twisted ponytail or the twisted bun? Here’s the chance to put the two face-to-face.
The twisted ponytail. On the Michael Kors’ catwalk, the ponytail is high and tightly secured. True to this season’s trend of hairstyles that opt for revealing the face, this is an ideal hairstyle. However, instead of looking ultra-straight, it is twisted at the tips. There is nothing more simple than achieving this hairstyle. Start by straightening your hair with a straightening iron. After straightening your hair, tie it all in a high ponytail with a bungee band. Once you’ve done the ponytail, twist the half-lengths and tips of your hair with a curling iron.
The twisted chignon. The twisted bun gives the appearance of a disheveled shell. The twist effect is all over the hair. Original and dynamic, this hairstyle is easily achievable and wearable on a daily basis. For such a chignon, backcomb your hair to give it volume. Flip all of your hair back without letting any strands loose. Then take large strands, twist them and secure them with hair pins. Do this with all of your hair while leaving some loose strands. Spray a cloud of hairspray to maintain the hairstyle all day.
Our verdict. Hard to choose! Indeed, while the twisted ponytail is easy and quick to achieve, it lacks originality. The twisted chignon has that originality. The choice depends on the time you have to do your hair. To help you make the right choice, consider the twisted ponytail when short on time in the morning to guarantee a maintainable day long hold. The disheveled chignon is perfect for a night out. Indeed, its disheveled and messy look cannot be done quickly! This hairstyle is reserved for evenings.
