The easiest option is to put a dab of styling product in your hands and to coat your hair, avoiding your scalp. Focus particularly on the tips, which are typically dryer and thus absorb the product more rapidly, for an even result.
 
Slicked back. With long hair, prepare it in advance by straightening it, which will make it easier to work with. Then use a glossy effect gel, choosing the hold strength depending on the desired effect.
