Hairstyle

My go-to skiing hairstyle

A weekend away skiing rarely means you’re going to have a relaxing break, getting up early to make sure you make the most of the slopes before the rest of the mountain wakes up.  You march up hills for 8 hours straight so that you can zoom back down them…this is hardly the time or place for fussy hairstyles that will get in the way of your fun-time. You can kiss your voluminous and wavy hairstyles goodbye, and say hello to a long-lasting hairstyle that will stay put all day.

It’s hard to look feminine whilst skiing. Oversized pants, enormous hat pulled down over your head, a huge scarf protecting your lips…let’s face it, you’re not looking your best, right? And, it’s incredibly hard to create an on-trend hairstyle underneath your fluffy hat. You’re limited to leaving your hair loose or up into a ponytail. A high ponytail or chignon are out of the question, however, as they will make your hat bulge and can become uncomfortable during the day.

To stop your hair flying all over the place when you’re gliding down the slopes, a low-slung ponytail should do the trick, so you don’t have to worry about strands of hair obscuring your vision mid-ski. Copy the hairstyles seen on the Akris autumn-winter 2013-2014 runway. To create the look, wash your hair and create a side parting. Next, smooth the hair down towards the base of the neck and tie at the nape of the neck with a hair tie. You want your style to stay in place all day, but without creating an uncomfortable lump when you put your hat on top. Make your style last all day by applying an even layer of hairspray all over your hair.
