3 hairstyle ideas for Valentine’s Day

Every year you have the same dilemma. All the magazines are full of Valentine’s Day hair and make-up ideas but you’re not really keen on any of them, which is why this year, the pros at Jean Louis David are giving you a few handy hair hints and tips for February 14th 2014!

Romantic hair. Of course, a lot of women will be off wining and dining their better halves on Valentine’s Day. If you’re one of them, we bet your preparing your outfit and hairstyle already (so are the rest of us!). Why not try wearing your hair in a romantic style for the big night? Make a centre parting, similar to those seen on the Valentino runway recently. Next, create two plaits at the front of your head, working backwards towards the neck so that the two eventually meet. Twist the braids around to the back of your head and secure with bobby pins and hairspray to keep your style in place.

Rebel hair. Are you the kind of person who doesn’t believe in all the Valentine’s Day hype? You’re not about to make an extra effort with your hair just for the soppy occasion? Or do you not want to sacrifice your usual rock-chic style? Opt for voluminous, wavy hair. Wash your hair, then create a centre parting and dry hair upside down. Tong small sections of your hair using a curling iron to make a wavy effect. Spray all over with hair spray to keep your curls bouncy all night long.

Slick hair. If you’re sick of guys queuing up asking you out on a date, try wearing a strict, severe looking hairstyle this Valentine’s Day to deter unwanted attention. Men can sometimes be scared to approach women with a sharp hairstyle. The general idea is to wear your hair high on your head in a high ponytail that is super straight. Make this look bang on-trend by making yours a wet-look ponytail. A small pea-sized amount of hair gel should do the trick. Apply to the scalp area, staying away from the ends, and tie you hair up tight with a hair tie to keep your ponytail secure.

Our tip: Whatever style you decide to wear, make sure your hair stays in place all night long. There’s nothing like a good dose of hairspray to keep flyaways in place and hold your style. Have a great night!
