Streetstyle: Add a twist to the classic chignon
Easy to create, the chignon is possibly one of the most popular daytime styles worn by women. But, there are different takes on this classic, such as the twisted chignon. You don’t have to rely on hair accessories to make your hair stand out from the crowd. Take a look at the twisted chignon for a unique look.
The hairstyle. Our streetstyle pick today has long hair. Rather than creating a rushed chignon, she has taken the time to make small intricate twists, starting from the root of the hair. To achieve this look, simply take small sections of your hair and twist from the root down to the ends. Once you’ve created your twists, style your hair into a low bun. Here, our streetstyle wearer has created her chignon on the side of the head for a more glamourous and feminine look. This look will take you from the office straight to a night out with friends.
The look. Casual and feminine. She’s opted for a flashy pair of pillar-box, red skinny-fit trousers. The rest of her outfit is pretty simple, combining a white shirt with a classic trench. Embroidered moccasins are her shoe of choice today which add a touch of glamour and sophistication to her look. The final touch is her shoulder bag which casually hangs from one shoulder.
Tip of the day: Take this look one step further with larger twists which give the illusion of plaits. Perfect alternative to creating a full-on braid, twists work with many different hairstyles. Try one or two here and there, or all over, twisting from the root downwards, then tie with a hair elastic.
