A chic and romantic chignon

For his Spring-Summer 2012 collection, designer Franck Sorbier paid tribute to femininity with bustiers, embroidery and endlessly long dresses. He chose the same theme for his hairstyles, with ultra-romantic looks that you’re going to want to learn how to recreate on your own hair straightaway!

The idea behind this chic and romantic chignon. The most important thing with this type of hairstyle is to create a very precise messy-look effect. The name of the game here is “au naturel”, but the style should also look professional... The golden rule then is not to pull the style too tight at the roots and to make sure it holds in place long enough without the hair grips being visible.

How to create this chic and romantic chignon. Start by gently backcombing underneath your hair and pulling it back, allowing your roots to breathe, to create a loose half ponytail. Leave the upper section of your hair alone as you work on the rest of your hair. For example, you could try twisting a few sections and rolling them up into a loose chignon. Secure with hair pins. Slide the lengths of your half ponytail into the chignon to finish. Another technique: start by dividing your hair into three sections, making the middle section the thickest. Take this middle section and create a low chignon. Next, take the two remaining section and twist them, to the ends, into the low chignon. Fix with a layer of hairspray.
