Mahogany gets this season’s seal of approval
As summer approaches, women prefer to wear bright, luminous hair colors. They tend to go for lighter shades and highlights to add a sun-kissed look to their locks. For 2014, there’s a hot new color on the horizon; mahogany is set to be a big color trend this season. Let’s take a closer look at this luscious shade.
Mahogany hair trend. The red hue is catching on this season. We’ve already spotted a number of models and celebrities who are looking for a subtle hair change working this color. Mahogany, when used in its lighter shades, is perfect for both brunettes and blondes and even fiery red-heads can give this look a go. Mahogany looks perfect paired with bronzed skin.
Mahogany in fashion. Mahogany has been a key color for spring fashion collections too. Whether you wear this on-trend color from head to toe or simply in select pieces, the styling potential is endless. As well as being original, mahogany is a super versatile color and tones perfectly with last year’s hottest colors including acid yellow and hot pink. If you don’t feel confident enough to wear mahogany colored clothes, why not opt for a lip color in this shade which will carry you through to next season with ease?
How to wear the trend. Ideally, your base color should already be medium to light in order for the mahogany color to take to the hair properly. This means you don’t need to lighten your hair before applying the mahogany, hence your hair will be less sensitive. Don’t try to do this at home. Make sure you go to a salon to let a professional take care of your color transformation. They’ll also be able to give you advice and tips on how to look after your style. At Jean Louis David, products within the Colour Therapy range have been designed especially for colored hair.
