How to create the express chignon
Easy to create and popping up on the catwalks more and more, the messy chignon is a star hairstyle this summer. Its deliberately dishevelled effect makes it great for everyday wear, especially when you want to give your hairstyle a rocky edge.
Here´s our step-by-step advice on how to create an express chignon.
Step 1:
To make things easier, don´t wash your hair the day you want to create this chignon. Ideally, wash it a day or two before and dry naturally, running your fingers through it for a natural result.
Step 2:
It takes work to achieve such volume. You need to backcomb your hair in order to give it thickness and texture. There´s no better way to give it a boost! But don´t go overboard, otherwise you´ll end up packing it all into the roots. Backcomb to help with styling and add thickness.
Step 3:
Create a low, loose ponytail. Secure with a bungee band, again keeping it loose.
Step 4:
Bring your lengths up to the bungee band and secure with hair slides. Fix a few pieces higher than the others for a laid-back result. For optimum hold, spray a large helping of hairspray across the whole style.
