Which hairstyles suit a hairband?

Summer trends tend to come and go…but not the hairband! After several years of headbands being popular, it’s now the more delicate hairband that is going to be 2014’s big summer trend.

The last few years have seen headbands monopolise the world of summer hair accessories. ‘It’s therefore about time that a new hair accessory took its place. The hairband, after years of being left to gather dust at the bottom of our drawers, is quick becoming every fashionista’s best friend. The headband could soon be knocked off the top spot’.

You can wear the same hairstyles you would with a headband with the new hairband. ‘The only difference is that the hairband should not be worn right at the front of the head like the headband. Who knows, a forehead-enhancing hairband could be a popular trend in the distant future, but for now we’re sticking to wearing ours firmly in the centre. You can backcomb the crown or even try wearing a quiff in the front to create some volume. It all depends on your desired look’.

For 2014, the hairband has a slightly different purpose to its previous use. ‘Whereas we simply used to wear hairbands to keep the hair off our faces, today’s hairbands act more as a stylish decoration. You should stay clear of this hair accessory if you have fine hair as it can appear flat, however all other hair types will suit this look. It’s up to you to decide which one you like best…just don’t wear a wide style that is too similar to the school-like headband!’.

Our tip: Opt for finer headbands in light colors. The boho-chic trend for fine, bead like hairbands is still on trend for this summer. Your hair will look simply gorgeous.
