will never go out of fashion. Regardless of which season we’re in, loose curls are always a winner, just as much on the runway as on the high street. However, there are a few stylish alternatives to this classic in the form of retro curls. If you want to create voluminous hair full of volume, this looks was made for you. The trend.
Halfway between crimped
locks and wavy lengths, these retro curls are big news for autumn-winter 2014-2015. Your curls should be fairly tight, however not from root to tip. On the recent Giorgio Armani runway (pictured), hair was worn in retro waves from the root down to the mid-lengths, leaving the ends free of any curling effect. Who can wear retro waves?
Ideally, your hair should be mid to long length to perfectly replicate the runway style. This makes the effect more visible to passers-by and easier to create. Women with short hair should be careful when creating this look not to create too much volume, which can spoil the overall finish. Get the runway look.
You can put your crimping iron, rollers and salon treatments to one side for this look. You’ll need to master your curling iron to create the perfect retro effect, or braid
hair into tight plaits which resemble the runway model’s waves. To do this, don’t sleep on wet braids as they simply won’t fully dry. Instead, braid your hair when it is almost 100% dry. Next, blast with the hairdryer on a hot setting to completely dry your braids. Unravel and apply hairspray
to create a long-lasting hold. Make sure you only braid down to just above your ends, to get that on-trend, Armani-esque look. © Pixelformula / Giorgio Armani prêt-à-porter runway, Autumn-Winter 2014-2015 © Jean Louis David
