Is ice blond hair with root re-growth the next big thing?

In one word, yes! Ice blonde is quickly becoming the must-have colour trend for the months ahead. However, not without root regrowth which gives this icy shade of blonde a more natural feel. The pros reveal all.

Ice blonde is traditionally worn with contrasting eyebrows. ‘Leaving your roots natural picks up the tone of your eyebrows and makes everything softer on the eye. At Jean Louis David, we’re all for the root re-growth look’. This makes looking after your colour much less high-maintenance, avoiding regular salon appointments every 15 days!

Decide in advance how many centimetres of roots you want showing. ‘The ideal width is around 2-4cm, but no more. Any longer and you’ll end up with more of a dip-dye effect’.

Obviously, the colour technique used in salons will be different from your usual cut and colour. ‘When you want to create this re-growth look, you’ll need to lighten several different strands, rather than an all-over colour. At Jean Louis David, you can opt for the Contrast service in large chunky sections which will create a natural-looking end result’.

Our advice: Don’t try out this icy blonde shade unless your hair is lighter than a chestnut shade. Women with dark hair will only end up damaging their locks by trying to achieve this super-light colour. At Jean Louis David, stylists will only use the Arctic Light treatment on medium to light shades.
