How to create a chignon without using hair pins

Put down your hair pins and hair bands and go for a foolproof laid-back and elegant chignon. Whatever the season, the chignon is the answer for anyone looking for a trendy, feminine style.

Who can wear it. Unfortunately this chignon only works on long hair. It is tricky to keep short hair in place without using hair pins. This chignon is the perfect style for anyone looking for a way to tie up their hair in a hurry.

How to create a chignon without using hair pins. There are a number of different methods, but the basics are the same for all of them. Start by brushing your hair, backcombing slightly at the roots for volume. Next, create a ponytail. This can be high or low depending on the result you’re after. A high ponytail will give you a chic and sophisticated look, while a low ponytail will give your hairstyle an urban, bohemian vibe. The next part is where a choice of methods can be used.

Create your chignon using a bun donut, or thread your hair through a sock with the end chopped off. Whichever option you go for, you’ll need to hide the accessory! You can do this by twisting your hair around the donut or twisting your lengths to hide the sock. These two accessories are there to create as much volume as possible and to stop you having to use hair pins. They keep your hair in place. Once you’ve created your chignon, apply a layer of hairspray to make sure your style lasts as long as it would with hair pins!
