Create a chic half-ponytail with a simple clip
Once simply a classic school hairstyle, the half ponytail can still be worn by women. However, in order to step away from your school years, it’s recommended to accessorize to add some personality and a new take on this well-loved style. The Donna Karan catwalk styled theirs with a simple clip.
The runway trend. On the Donna Karen runway, models were tanned and wore their hair straight. To perfect this look, hair was slightly gelled to create a subtle wet-look effect around the roots. The finishing touch? A wide chrome clip. Rather than using the clip at the back of the head where a half ponytail would usually lie, models wore their clip on top of the head, towards the forehead. In fact, the parting was completely hidden by using a strong hold styling product to keep the middle section slicked back. No hair ties were used, simply the chrome clip for maximum impact.
Who can wear it? Anybody who wants to work a California beach vibe and is looking forward to hot, sunny days this summer. Whether your hair is short or long isn’t important for this look. The key part to this style is to have super straight hair and a subtle wet-look. Your hair and color should shine in order to enhance your natural glow, similar to the radiant look seen on the catwalk.
How to copy the catwalk style. After washing and drying your hair, apply a heat-protective spray to protect your hair from the heat it is subjected to whilst straightening. Straighten all of your hair and separate the centre section, which will be used to create your half ponytail. Apply a pea-sized amount of gel to this section to create a wet-look whilst giving your hair some hold. This section should now stay there on its own without the aid of a clip for now. Add the final touch by sliding your wide chrome clip into the front of your centre section. To get the positioning right, you should be able to see it when looking in the mirror. Your style looks futuristic whilst being both glamorous and elegant at the same time. This look is going to be one of spring-summer’s must-have trends!
