3 ways to wear the pixie crop

More commonly referred to as the ‘summer crop’, the pixie cut is still set to be a winning style this autumn. This boyish look highlights the wearer’s features and opens up the face, making it a real must-have. Discover the top 3 ways you’re styling your pixie crops this season.

The retro pixie crop. For this look, take inspiration from the 60s and 70s for your pixie crop. If you’re still not sure of what look you should be aiming for, think Twiggy to get the perfect finish. Although she liked to wear hers with a side parting, we’re going to stick with the centre parting to keep it modern and fresh. At your salon appointment, ask your stylist to give you a bowl cut whilst leaving your front sections slightly longer, in order to frame your features. This means that some days you can leave your bangs loose, and others you can sweep them behind your ears or clip them back. This cut is great for those in a rush every morning, as it is super-easy to maintain.

The glamorous pixie crop. Women often assume that short hair cannot be glamorous. This couldn’t be further from the truth! Need more proof? Just take a look at some of Hollywood’s hottest celebrities who have recently gone for the chop. This look is simple to style, however you’ll need to pay extra attention to keeping your locks in good condition to make them shine. Part your hair to one side, then sweep the rest of your hair over to the opposite side. It’s totally up to you to decide whether you want some face-framing bangs, or you can keep them firmly in place with a styling product, such as wax. You can vary your look each day by altering your front section from a retro feel to sweeping it behind your ears.

The rock-chic pixie crop. To successfully replicate this rock-chic version, your hair will need to be slightly longer to get the right effect. Ask your stylist to leave an extra inch on your lengths when going for your next trim. Apply some gel or wax to run throughout your hair, pulling it backwards into a quiff-like structure. Don’t forget to style your sides, with either a matte or high-shine finish. You’ll need to re-style this look each day to ensure you have the correct shape and textures. Keep on top of your style by making regular salon appointments.
