Wavy blow-drys for fine hair

Wavy hair is very on-trend right now and can be worn with many different styles. Waves add movement to flat hair without the roundness of full curls, and hold well when styled with normal or thick hair. However, fine hair can also create this look. All you need to do is make sure your prepare it well first.

Of course fine hair can be styled into waves! The only problem is that fine hair can become limp quickly and doesn’t hold waves as well as other hair types. Using the right styling products will help solve this problem. For fine hair, apply a hair mousse to the hair before styling and then a texturising salt spray after. If you already have thick hair, you can skip this step.

To make your waves last as long as possible, you may need to use two or even three hair products. ‘As well as using a hair mousse and texturising salt-based spray, hairspray is essential. The mousse and salt spray will help to create and enhance the waves whereas the hairspray will ensure your waves don’t drop out.’

Just because you want to create waves in your fine hair, doesn’t mean you necessarily need to use a curling iron to achieve this effect. ‘Apply your styling mousse to damp hair, then twist small sections of the hair around our finger and dry individually. Create a centre parting to show off your beautiful waves. Dry each strand separately using the hairdryer’s attachments to create a soft effect.’

Our tip: If your hair is very fine and difficult to work with, you may need to resort to using a curling iron to create your waves. Simply twisting sections around your fingers and drying will not be enough to create the wavy effect.
