Fluorescent hair started to appear on the catwalk last year. In 2012, fashionistas looked to candifloss pink or seapunk blue hair. This trend continues through to spring-summer 2013. But this season it’s any shape and any colour!
 
Fluorescent strips. At Oscar de la Renta, sensible retro styles are teamed sparingly with edgy fluorescent shades. A few sections are slipped into the hair, almost as if coloured hair extensions have been added. Think pink, turquoise and yellow.
 
Multicolour. During New York fashion week, a supermodel with rainbow hair caught the eyes of fashion’s elite. Her name is Chloe Norgaard, an American model with green, orange and red hair. This multicoloured hair has led her to appear on the catwalks for Nicole Miller and Rodarte. Try it now for a grunge, neo-punk style.
 
Fluorescent highlights. Once again, think pink, blue or green. But the objective here is to blend these original colours as naturally as possible into the rest of your hair. It’s hard to believe, but it can be done using a specific highlighting technique and opting for pastel colours rather than fluorescents.
 
Fluorescent fringes. Go all out with this trend without having to colour your whole hair: treat yourself to a fluo fringe! Spotted on the Anna Sui catwalk, the colour covers the fringe and a section on the top of your head for a striking contrast with the rest of the hair. Barbie or powder pink, bright blue or iridescent purple, whatever takes your fancy.
