Spring-Summer 2014 colour trend: platinum blonde
Often associated with hairstyles worn by Hollywood starlets on the red carpet, platinum blonde is officially having a moment this year. Far from the clichéd Marilyn Monroe look, this season’s platinum blonde is sexy-chic and looks modern with an edgy vibe. Let’s take a closer look at this sumptuous shade.
Platinum blonde for 2014. Many women presume that platinum blonde locks only suit those with a pale complexion, however this shade actually works well with all skin types. On the catwalk, we spotted models with short and long hair rocking this look, as well as straight and frizzy styles. For 2014, platinum blonde should be almost ice-blonde and have no trace of visible root re-growth. Your look should be natural, as should any style you decide to create.
Who can wear this shade? Anybody who has never dared try this colour! 2014 is the year that pearlescent, near white shades will knock years off your look. This hairstyle is bang on trend this season and looks great paired with a rock-chic outfit and 80s-inspired prints. If you’re looking for a wow-factor hair colour, this has to be it!
How to create the look. Don’t do anything before talking to your stylist first! To create this icy shade, your hair will first need to be stripped of its natural colour which can sensitise and make the hair fragile. You will need to use specifically designed products for coloured hair to ensure your new shade stays vibrant and shiny. Use an anti-yellowing treatment once a month to prevent any unsightly strands appearing. Whatever you decide, be sure to discuss your transformation with your stylist, who will be able to explain the necessary stages to create your new colour.
