Many popular music festivals tend to happen at the end of August. Unfortunately for you and the millions of others planning their trip, you might have to give your summer shorts, open sandals and loose hairstyles a miss. Prepare for the worst by rain-proofing your outfit and hair this season. Rather than leaving locks loose and running the risk of a frizz disaster
, tie up your hair into an on-trend look to keep stylish, whatever the weather. The top knot.
The top knot is the perfect solution if you have long hair or even a bob. Placed on top of the head, and safely secured, your style will stay put all day long! Brush your hair backwards
, then secure at the top of the head into a high ponytail. Once you’ve finished this step, twist the lengths around the hair tie to create the chignon shape. Secure again with a tight elastic to make sure it sits tight. Spray evenly with hairspray and voila! The high braid.
Of course, the braid is another great alternative, whatever the occasion. For festivals, there’s no point in trying to create a boho-chic version. Instead, opt for a more original braid
. To do this, brush your hair backwards and secure high up with a hair tie. Next, start braiding your lengths. Secure with an original accessory such as a ribbon or an embellished hair tie. Once again, spray with hairspray to ensure your style stays in place. Dual top knots.
We’re not trying to get you to copy a manga character’s hairstyle with this look…just an original take on hair styling. Create a centre parting and start styling the left side of your parting. Gather your hair up high and twist the lengths up and around themselves, creating a knot-like shape
. Repeat this on the right hand side and secure both with hair ties and bobby pins. Spray with a fixing product so that your double knots don’t fall out halfway through partying! © Pixelformula / Aquilano Rimondi prêt-à-porter runway, Autumn-Winter 2013-2014 © Jean Louis David
