Is the knotted double-braid this season’s must-have look?
When you hear the words ‘double-braid’, we’re betting your school years and pigtails spring to mind. Originally popular with younger girls, it seems that the double braid is making a comeback this season. Want to give this look a go? Read on to find out more.
The idea behind this winter 2014 trend is to maintain your youthful spirit with a sophisticated finish. The recent Givenchy runway show was awash with this look, meaning it should be big news for the cooler months ahead. As well as being practical, it instantly opens up the wearer’s face whilst creating a unique vibe. What more convincing do you need that all it takes sometimes is a small dose of inspiration to stand out from the crowd?
Make like the Givenchy runway models and start by drawing a centre parting. Next, separate your hair into two equal sections, braiding from the lengths down to the tips, then secure with a hair elastic. Wrap one plait around the other at the nape of the neck, giving the illusion of one single plait, then pin into place with a couple of bobby pins that should be invisible to passers-by. Finish with a layer of hairspray all over to provide a long-lasting hold. And there you have it…a youthful hairstyle full of class and sophistication!
