Daily care for curls

Unlike naturally straight hair, curls require daily care. This winter we’re seeing a lot of full, round curls on the catwalk. Here’s a look at how to keep your curls looking flawless every day.

Flawless curls need to be looked after every day! “To make sure they maintain their shape, apply specially designed products or, at least, dampen them. Simply sleeping on curls can cause them to break, so you need to work on them as soon as they wake up to restore their bounce.”

For perfect curls, you also need to make sure they stay in place. “The best way to do this is to apply mousse when blow drying your hair. This is particularly recommended if you have brown hair. If you have lighter hair, stick to light products to avoid the stiff effect, which is all the more visible on this hair type.”

Curly hair tends to be dryer than other hair types. “To keep your curls in the rudest of health, remember to shape them every day. But that’s not all. Products designed for curly hair are essential for keeping your hair looking flawless. Curly hair is particularly prone to dryness and therefore needs ultra-nourishing products.”

To stop your curls from breaking, only comb them after washing your hair. “Combing your curls when your hair is dry can end up breaking the curl. By all means do this if you’re going for an effect that’s different to how your curls look naturally.”

Our tip: tying up your hair relaxes your curls. This produces a different, fairly sought after effect. The roots are wavy while the rest of the hair is curly. What a stylish contrast!
