We don’t often think about wearing bohemian or ethnic-inspired hairstyles during winter, as they are considered summery looks. However, for winter 2014, ethnic hairstyles have already been spotted on the runway. The Fendi catwalk combined African braids with punky mohawk front sections. Who knew these two looks could work so well together? Let’s take a closer look at this trend.
 
All eyes were on the punky mohawk-esque look at the Fendi catwalk show.  Despite being fairly impractical for a day at work, this original style is nonetheless exciting. Once the secret got out that the front spiky section was actually a faux hair piece, everybody’s attention returned to the smooth plait worn by the models. Both feminine and elegant, this is THE perfect style for keeping your hair in place all day long. Instead of leaving strands loose, make sure that all of your hair is plaited tightly into place for the African braid.
 
Want to try out this bohemian look during the winter months? Start by brushing your hair and getting rid of any tangles or knots. Next, divide your hair into several different sections. Each section corresponds to the number of braids you want to create. To copy the style seen on the Fendi runway, you only need to create the one braid. Divide your hair into three equal sections, as you would for a normal braid. Start plaiting from the root by crossing an outer strand over the middle strand. Do the same on the opposite side, then repeat until you reach the ends of your hair. Tie with a hair tie and spray evenly with hairspray to keep flyaways under control.
