5 glamorous hairstyles to see in the New Year
It’s the 31st of December and you want to look perfect! You’ve been planning your hair, make-up, outfit and accessories for weeks. To help you get the perfect hairstyle, here are 5 glamorous looks for you to try out straightaway.
The Hollywood quiff. At Douglas Hannant, hairstyles are glossy, glam and full of volume. To replicate this, start preparing the night before by washing your hair and applying a styling mousse to give your hair body and texture. Use small-barrelled curling tongs to create cute, bouncy curls then set with hairspray. For your quiff, take a large section of hair from the front of your head, backcomb and pull back.
The bejewelled chignon. The chignon is a chic yet classic hairstyle. To add your own glamorous touch, why not decorate it with jewellery? Straighten your hair thoroughly and tie it back into a low ponytail. Twist your lengths around your hair band and fix them in place using hair pins. Now dot jewels across your chignon.
Side hair. The stars are loving this style, and so are we! Hair worn to the side looks especially fabulous on long hair. A style that is both simple and effective. As you did for the Hollywood quiff, use small- or medium-barrelled curling tongs to style your mid-lengths and ends. Create a neat side parting and let your wavy hair fall across one shoulder. Slick the rest back using a fixing gel.
The braided crown. Also known as a tiara braid or a headband braid, this braid goes around your head and gives you a romantic and chic style. If your hair is long enough for it, take a section of hair from the front of your head and braid from the roots to the ends, following the shape of your head. Otherwise, buy a ready-made braid (choose one that’s the same colour as your hair) and place it in the crowning position.
The side twist. A more modern version of the classic French twist. Apply a styling mousse to wet hair then blow dry so that it’s soft and bouncy. Style your hair into a side parting then, on the thicker side, start twisting the lengths from the roots and continue back up the side of your head. Secure your twists using hair pins then spray with a layer of hairspray.
