Why your fringe gets greasy quickly and how to avoid it

Whether your fringe is short, rolled or long, it is often the centrepiece of your hairstyle. To get it looking its best, it needs to be perfectly clean and tidy! But the problem is that it tends to get greasy quicker than the rest of your hair. Find out the causes of this problem to find the best solutions!

The first cause is obviously a greasy hair type. “If your hair tends to get greasy fairly quickly, it will be even worse for your fringe. To stop this, use treatments designed for this issue, such as a shampoo for greasy roots and dry ends, where the problems usually are.

It can also be caused by touching your hair more than necessary. You tend to put your fringe back in place more often than you need to. And touching it makes it greasy. There’s no advice to be given here, it’s just common sense! “Stop messing with it. A greasy fringe is not a good look.”

Finally, it can come from your skin or from the products you use on it. “Oily skin or rich creams can often be the reason behind a greasy fringe as it is in direct contact with your skin.” Instead, use mixed creams or powder foundation rather than liquid foundation. Wear your hair fringe slightly rounded so that it doesn’t stick right to your forehead!

If your fringe really won’t hold its shape as it’s too greasy, why not wash this section of your hair. “But don’t just wet it. This will only make the problem worse.”

Our tip: Dry shampoo is a great solution! Apply a bit of dry shampoo to dry hair, leave it to soak in for a few minutes then style. Test it first to make sure it doesn’t take the shine out of your hair.
