The statement preppy chignon
Often considered to be a classic style, the statement chignon is this season’s must-have for autumn-winter 2014-2015. The look is traditionally associated with ballerinas, however the trend has now hit the high-street and can be worn for an evening occasion, daytime ensemble or even an important work meeting. Let’s take a closer look.
The statement preppy chignon. Oversized chignons have been a popular look for some time now, especially with women wanting to create a casual look with a sophisticated edge. Today, the statement, preppy chignon is big news and can be worn with either an elegant evening gown or a chic blazer for a feminine feel.
Why should I give this trend a go? This trend screams effortlessness and elegance. Regardless of what you decide to wear, an oversized chignon on top of the head instantly adds a chic aura to any style. We also love this look thanks to its simplicity and versatility. You can now look groomed and on-trend from morning to night thanks to this quick and easy hairstyle.
The statement chignon, step-by-step. Thanks to the invention of hair doughnuts, you don’t need super long hair to make this look work, however your hair should be at least chin-length to give you a good starting point. Straighten the whole of your hair and sweep backwards, securing into a high ponytail. Next, place your hair doughnut at the base of the ponytail and wrap your hair around its shape to create a voluminous chignon. Fix into place with several bobby pins for a long-lasting hold. Finally, spray all over with hairspray to set your style in place.
