Red, pink, green…should you take the color plunge?

Crazy hair colors are cropping up left right and centre, and are now a popular craze with A-listers and models alike. We’ve got major hair envy! So, are you ready to try out pink, green or even red hair colors? Read on to find out what the pros think about this new color trend.

Want to go for a shocking shade? Your best option is to try out a temporary color. ‘A permanent color means de-coloring your hair with bleach-based products beforehand, unless you are naturally blonde. If your hair is medium to dark, you will need to drastically decolor your hair in order for your desired color to be noticeable. Hair can become damaged and sensitive due to the long process which removes your natural color’.

Always opt for a temporary or wash-in color if you want to give a bold shade a try. ‘Why not try out chalk hair products? Rub the chalk down the hair shaft and it will last a whole evening. Perfect! Try to avoid using chalk products too often as they can dry out hair’.

At Jean Louis David, our favourite shades are always close to natural, existing hair tones. ‘Our aim is to enhance our client’s natural color – not change it completely. We don’t set out to create false or synthetic-looking shades. Coppery hues, reds and even golden tones are perfect for women looking for a subtle change. You simply need to know the limits of your color. It can be extremely difficult to go back to your base color after dyeing it a radical shade’.

Our advice: Make sure you think long and hard before dyeing your hair a vibrant color. You will need to make frequent appointments with your stylist. If you’re desperate to try out this trend, opt for clip-in hair extensions to show off your wild side! Then simply clip in and out whenever it takes your fancy!
