How to wear crimped hair

Crimped hair is back, and what better way to pay tribute to the 90s this year. Remember when you were younger and you and your friends used to mess around in front of the mirror with your mum’s crimping irons? Well now’s your chance to do it again! Here’s why.

How to crimp your hair. Without crimping irons it’s hard to get a perfect result, but if you’ve got them, go wild. Before using them, check that your hair is completely dry and protected with a cream. Select thin sections for an exaggerated result and slip them into your crimping irons. Leave each section in for no more than a few seconds. To avoid too much volume, leave the roots and start at the mid-lengths instead.

Who can wear it? Anyone with mid-length to long hair. Especially if you feel like you’re lacking volume. If you have shorter hair, it’s best to steer clear of crimping. Otherwise you’ll end up with far too much volume and a highly impractical hairstyle.

What hairstyle? The hairstyle seen on the Moschino Cheap & Chic catwalk is ideal. Leave the roots alone to avoid unnecessary volume and bushy locks. Start by creating a side parting and section off your hair behind the ear on the opposite side of your parting. Slick your roots down with a gel, but use sparingly to stop your hair looking greasy. Then, for a trendy, elegant result, crimp your hair starting from the section above your ears. And there you have it, as far as your hair is concerned, the 90s are back!
