How to choose an original hair colour
Original hair colours are all the rage this season. All of the stars are at it, as well as runway models too, meaning there’s no better time to create this quirky look. Make sure you get your shade right by following our professional’s tips and advice.
We’ve said it a million times before; don’t try this at home! “Colouring your hair at home is always much more risky, especially when opting for a unique, sometimes unconventional, shade. You never know whether you will be able to reverse the damage caused and what effect store-bought chemicals will have on your locks, unless you are a professional. Stick to your stylist! If you really want to try out a new colour DIY-style, try using crayons or colourful hair chalk products which will last a few hours and wash out, avoiding any hair disasters”.
Even temporary hair dyes can wreak havoc on your hair. “It all depends on the colour you select, however temporary colours are still a better option than permanent dyes. Do you really want to risk spending months with the wrong colour? Stick to short-term solutions such as crayons”.
Prepared to take the plunge with you new hair colour? “You’ll need to seek the advice of a highly qualified stylist, specialising in colouring. Only they will be able to foresee the after-effects of dye on your natural locks and asses the quality of your hair. Keep in mind that your hair may not be suited to certain colours”.
Our advice: Why not give colourful extensions a go, or clip-in sections of hair? You can create a unique look without the commitment and damaging effects of a colour treatment.
