Hair how-to: styling dual-textured hair

Is your hair straight and wavy? Or wavy and curly? Don’t panic, you’re not the only one who has two different hair textures. Our pros gives their top tips for dealing with dual-textured locks.

Start by choosing which texture you want to keep in order to make your style more uniform. ‘Some women are born with this trait in their genes, meaning two hair types are more common than you think. Similar to how grey hairs grow randomly in different areas, your hair texture can vary from section to section. For example, someone with curly hair may have tight curls in one area, more relaxed waves in another and straight hair closer to the nape of the neck. If you want your hair to be one single texture to even things out, you’ll either need to straighten or curl some sections to achieve your desired look’.

Texturizing and styling products will make managing your hair much easier. ‘It all depends on the effect you are trying to create. Try Design Mousse to enhance curls, or apply Perfect Liss before straightening. If you want to straighten out your unwanted curls in a targeted and long-lasting way, discover our Relax treatment. This service is exclusive to Jean Louis David salons and will keep your lengths straight for weeks on end’.

Our advice: Thinking about working with your natural locks instead of against them? Simply try any style you like, whether you opt for a ponytail or messy chignon. Make the most of your dual-texture and embrace your individuality!
