Wearing your wide-brim hat in winter

Wide-brimmed hats have been protecting you from the summer sun, and they can do the same against the cold winter chill! This ultra-feminine hat is a great alternative to the beanie or Russian hat. Here’s our advice on how to wear it with style.

The history of the wide-brimmed hat. This XXL hat was the must-have accessory for high society women of the 19th century. Back then, it was worn only for the most select occasions and was also adorned with lace. After many years of being in the style spotlight, it was sidelined for more minimalist hats like the 1920s cloche hat or the pillbox hat. The wide-brim hat reappeared again in the 1970s for chic, bohemian styles and has been a mainstay in our wardrobes ever since!

The wide brim hat for a bohemian look. In winter, the wide brim hat is made out of fine felt to keep your head cosy. For a seventies look, go for a wide brim hat in burgundy, maroon or mustard shades. Wear on ultra-straight or loosely wavy hair to really capture the 70s look. For your outfit, go for flared jeans, heeled boots and a loose-fit blouse, finished off with a cape on top.

The wide brim hat for a chic look. Opt for black, brown or navy blue. For an ultra-chic look, wear your hair in a classic braid or curly ponytail falling over one shoulder. Wear your wide brim hat with slim-fit black jeans, high heels and a straight-cut coat. Steer clear of oversize coats, your wide brim hat should be quite enough! And don’t forget those accessories; we’re thinking of teaming it up with a clutch and long, chic gloves.
