True Facts: the floral headband

This week we’re taking a closer look at one of this summer’s must-haves… the floral headband. Discover the origins behind this hippy look and the reason for its success.

Each summer, the floral headband seems to decorate the head of every fashionista and create a romantic and relaxed feel. You’d be hard pressed not to spot one of these at music festivals, boho-inspired weddings and even  at a beach holiday retreat. Our favourite bit about this look? Wearing real flowers enables you to personalise your accessory for a unique take on the trend which is 100% natural.

In fact, the floral headband is a very old tradition and was considered to be an adorning object or ceremonial gesture (it’s a sign of welcome in Tahiti) or even a gift to charm an admirer.  Nevertheless, this trend hit its peak in the middle ages. At the time, making these wreathes was considered to be a profession in itself!

Over the centuries, the floral crown slowly became less and less popular, yet resurfaced in the 20th century especially the 60s and 70s thanks to the hippy movement. Nowadays, not a Fashion Week goes by without it making an appearance! There’s nothing unusual about completing your look with this on-trend, timeless accessory.
