Sometimes all it takes is a little variation to transform a timeless classic into an original, trendy hairstyle! This is the case for the half-ponytail, spotted at Cédric Charlier. This version loses the sweet and innocent look and instead gives you a strict and chic style.
Who can wear it?
Just like the ponytail, the half-ponytail is a staple hairstyle and one of the first styles you learn to create when you’re a child. But for a bit of originality you’ve decided to go for a different version. For a strict and elegant style, opt for the wet-look half-ponytail which appears to be tied up all on its own. This is a structured style which is ideal for mid-length and long hair.
How to create the wet-look half-ponytail
. What we like about this hairstyle is the very trendy wet look, but also the concealed hair band. It’s a touch futuristic but ultra-chic. And with a little simplification you can do it yourself at home! For this style, you need to start with perfectly straight hair. Apply a heat protector spray before straightening to protect your hair from the heat. Next, create a neat side-parting then apply a styling wax
to two large pieces of hair either side of your face. Pull the rest of your hair out of the way for the time being to make things easier. Smooth down the two pieces. The wax will fix the movement and give it this glossy wet look. Bring them to meet at the back of your head, completely straight and flat. Secure at the back of your neck using hair grips. Now leave the rest of your straight hair to fall over your wet-look half-ponytail. The hair grips are now concealed, leaving you with a super chic result!
