The Pros discuss the low parting

The on-trend low parting has convinced some of fashion’s top designers. It was recently spotted on the BCBG Max Azria Autumn-Winter 2014-2015 runway show at New York Fashion Week. This hairstyle is big news…so what are you waiting for?

The super low parting is a great way to create volume. ‘Because almost all of your hair is swept over to one side, this adds bulk and volume to your look. The parting is perfect if you were blessed with naturally thick hair. If your hair is slightly finer, a low parting will instantly make it appear thicker on one side. Simply slick the opposite side back against your head or tuck behind your ear. This will prevent your style from looking unbalanced’.

Styling products are an absolute must when it comes to creating this look. ‘You’ll need a quality hairspray to make sure your style stays in place all day long. Because your hair is swept over to one side, it is going against the natural grain, meaning it’s more likely to come out of place. To get the low parting, preparation is key. Wash carefully, then dry with your head upside down to boost volume further at the roots’.

Our advice: Not a fan of hair falling into your face across your eyes? If not, make sure you style this look with long hair, enabling every strand to be tucked neatly away. Our top tip? Make sure your bangs don’t fall out of your side-swept look by using a few bobby pins close to your ear area.
