The nun headdress: from the catwalk to the high street?
Ideal for protecting your ears from the cold, the nun headdress is nevertheless a rather surprising accessory to discover on the heads of fashionistas. However, on the Mugler catwalk, models proudly sport their headdresses tied around the neck and lowered to eye level. The nun headdress from the catwalk to the high street? Let’s take a closer look:
The nun headdress, as seen on the catwalk. Retro and defined, the nun headdress, as seen during the Mugler fashion show, illuminates an all over black look or highlights a black & white look. Particularly wide, it allows to go “incognito” while giving the appearance of a 50’s flight attendant. An accessory that has stood the test of time and finds itself in the 2013 season spotlight.
What do we keep? The shape, maybe … But to avoid resembling too much a “nun headdress” avoid chosing a white one at all cost. This colour is too reminiscent of the famous monastic accessory. The key is to restyle it but in a fun way , with prints, wool or sequin wool material. Accessories are there to have fashion fun with and not to embarass ones self by wearing non look enhancing pieces. Go for the nun haiddress but only if it combines warmth and originality. Its all you’ll need this winter!
How to adopt it? Aesthetically it doesn’t matter because the headdress completely covers your hair. However, it’s better to wear your hair loose so it can breathe and avoids you having to touch-up your hairstyle when you take the headdress off. This accessory allows you to spend a weekend in Italy, like Gracy Kelly, in a convertible on the Mediterranean coast.
