Along with the ponytail, the braid is THE catwalk hairstyle for Autumn-Winter 2012. It comes in all shapes and sizes for romantic or even punk styles! Don’t want to take sides? Here are two different ways to wear the braided French twist.
 
The punk version. At Simone Rocha, the braided chignon takes a step back from its country image in favour of a bolder effect! The principle? Create an upside down braid, or a top braid if you prefer. Brush your hair then divide it into three sections. Start to French braid your hair from the bottom of your neck. Hold the sections tight against your head for an African braid effect. Once you reach the top of your head, secure the braid in place with a hair band and move on to the remaining lengths. Backcomb to add texture and pull it forward to wear as a fringe!
 
The romantic version. You love the idea of a braided French twist, but are not so sure about the punk-style fringe. No need to panic, here’s another, more romantic, hairstyle idea! Just like for the first version, brush your hair, divide into three sections then start French braiding from the bottom of your neck. Hold your hair tight against your head as you pass the strands one over the other. Once you reach the top of your head, secure with a hair band and create a classic chignon with the remaining lengths. To do this, roll your hair around the hair band, remembering to backcomb and apply hairspray first to add volume and texture. Insert hair pins inside the chignon to fix in place.
