Super slicked men’s hair spotted on the runway

Super slick hair appeared on the fashion scene soon after the release of ‘The Godfather’, and it appears that it is now making a huge comeback 30 years on. It will take guts to pull off this retro look in 2014, but he who dares wins! Slicked back hair is being worn by more and more A-listers to red-carpet events, making this dandy-chic inspired style one to watch.

You’re next question is probably ‘should I use gel or hairspray’? Most styling products can be used to slick back the hair and give it a glossy look. It all depends, however, on the length of your hair and how thick you want the product to look when styled. For example, you should go for a more subtle version of this look during the day, then come evening you can take it up a notch by using more product. Try wearing slicked back hair with smarter outfits for a more refined appearance. The Alexander McQueen runway was awash with slicked back hair, with a retro feel. The front of the models’ faces were framed by a sublime wavy hairline, reminiscent of the roaring 20s. Simply add a styling product into the mix to get a sophisticated, grown-up style.

Want to give this one a try? Your hair needs to be at least 4cm long. Create a side parting and slick hair towards the opposite side. You can use a fine-toothed comb to help you do this, however be sure to apply your product first. To copy the look seen on the McQueen runway, you should try to create a subtle wave at the front of your head. To do this, apply a hair mousse to the front section, then take two or three bobby pins and secure into a wave shape. Allow this to dry naturally or, if you’re pressed for time, use a hairdryer to speed up the process. All you need to do now is get ready to impress!
