Spotted on the catwalks: the satin ribbon

Avant-gardism and romanticism come together in hairstyles seen on Alexis Mabille’s Autumn-Winter 2013-2014 catwalk. A black satin ribbon was used to secure the slick half-ponytail worn by the models. Irresistibly girly and feminine, this accessory is making a name for itself as one of the season’s must-have hair accessories.

On the catwalk, hair is given a chic, wet-look texture for a sweet and smooth effect. Hair is long, ultra-straight and slicked down using styling wax. Hair is perfectly glossy for a glam’rock and feminine style. The result? An immaculate cut enhanced with a chunky black satin ribbon.

Want to copy the hairstyle seen on the Alexis Mabille catwalk? To do so, work the wet look. Once you’ve straightened your hair carefully, apply a styling product for a glossy finish to create the wet effect. Create two partings on the top of your head to create a perfectly neat half-ponytail that is both symmetrical and parallel. Gather the hair between the two partings and create a half-ponytail. To keep the style in place, secure with a bungee band. Once the hairstyle is complete, add the satin ribbon to top off and customise the style.
