Runway to reality: Ground Zero sends double buns down the catwalk

Thought double buns were for pre-schoolers only? Think again! This spring, fall in love with this preppy style that will add a breath of fresh air to your look, without compromising on elegance.

The trend. Double buns were back with a bang this spring on the catwalks. Need proof? Just take a look at the Ground Zero Spring-Summer 2015 runway at Paris Fashion Week. Styles were given structure thanks to a perfectly traced centre parting and were swept up into two statement buns on top of the head. This look is super-quick to create, protects your hair and adds an original touch to your entire outfit.

Who can wear double buns? Anyone who feels nostalgic about their childhood outfits and hairstyles! However, even those who are simply looking for a new, innovative way to tie up their hair can give this look a go. After all, the classic chignon and ponytail styles can sometimes get a bit repetitive. Take direct inspiration from the catwalk and opt for a feminine and sophisticated outfit to compensate for your daring hairstyle.

Get the runway look. This style requires mid-length to long-length hair. Start by de-tangling locks with a brush and separate into two equal halves. Next, tie up into two high ponytails, right on top of the head. Twist the lengths around the base to create your bun shape, fixing into place with bobby pins. Spray evenly with hairspray for a long lasting hold. Once you’ve played around with this style a couple of times, you can get more adventurous and alter the shape and size of your buns…let your imagination run wild!
