Long hair: three hairstyles for a first date
They say that your attitude and your clothes say a lot about you, well the same goes for your hair and make-up. So plan carefully and use your hair and make-up to get a message across! Here are 3 style ideas for long hair on a first date.
The hairstyle: Tousled chignon
The message: I’m cool but I’m not doing anything tonight!
How to: Spotted at Talbot Runhof, this half-neat, half-messy chignon plays on ambiguity… To do it yourself at home, start by straightening your hair. Create a side-parting then smooth down the hair at the top of your head using a styling wax. This will also add shine. Next, tie your hair into a side ponytail and create a loose chignon. Backcomb the mid-lengths to achieve the tousled effect and wrap around your hair band, being careful not to smooth out the messy effect!
The hairstyle: Long flowing locks
The message: I’m a femme fatale
How to: What better than gorgeous, long waves to make a glamorous entrance? Long hair that spills over the shoulder is a classic catwalk look that quickly became a huge hit with us! To do it yourself, apply a styling mousse to damp hair to add texture then blow-dry. Now create your curls using curling tongs, concentrating on your mid-lengths and ends. Create a side-parting and pull your hair over one shoulder. Slick the other side down using a gel.
The hairstyle: The messy ponytail
The message: I’m down to earth
How to: A style that is quick and easy to do. Leave your hair to dry naturally or work your fingers through it with a hair dryer. Create a centre-parting then backcomb gently. Try and wash your hair the day before your date so that the backcombing lasts! Now tie your hair into a low ponytail, without smoothing it down too much. Leave a few loose pieces out at the front of your head to emphasise the messy look.
