Get the 60s ponytail look
This spring, 60s hairstyles are more on-trend than ever. Both retro, chic and timeless all at once, these style are good for any occasion. Our pro reveals her top secrets to nailing the look.
This beauty look is typical of the flower-power era. ‘The main characteristic of this neo-sixties hairstyle is the statement volume. The upper section is rounded and voluminous thanks to backcombed roots. This contrasts with the flatness at the very front of the style for a dual-effect. As for the ends, models wore theirs flicked outwards. Back in the 60s, this look was all the rage, similar to the pixie crop and hippie styles too.
To nail the look, your hair should be layered, whatever their length. ‘Wash with Soft and Tone Shampoo from the Volume Therapy range to add as much thickness as possible. Section off the upper half and backcomb in even smaller sections for a perfect finish. To do this, apply some Texture Powder then comb in the opposite direction your hair grows. Spray with hairspray then lightly slick down your sides with a walnut-sized amount of gel. Finally, secure into a low-slung ponytail to complete the look.
Our advice: Continue with the 60s theme and try styling your regular styles in a lower position for a retro feel. A low chignon or braid, for example, should do just the trick. Another idea is to take your favorite floral headband and place onto your forehead whilst retaining volume at the rear.
