Getting a layered haircut is usually the trick for adding volume. However, this is not the only technique used to get volume. Sometimes a simple change of colour can give the illusion of more volume. Here is why:
Changing your hair colour does not actually add volume but gives a visual illusion. “The principles of hair colour explain that if some parts of the hair are darker than others, then your hair looks more voluminous. This is the principle of the Lift Color technique. It gives the illusion of elongation. The Contrast technique, used in Jean Louis David salons, also gives the impression of volume.”
Sometimes fine hair can be protected with certain colours. “The Gloss, for instance, gives the impression of augmented volume. The fact that some part of the colour settle subtly on the strands gives the illusion of thicker hair fibers. Your hair looks more substantial.”
The colour change gives an illusion of volume whereas layers provide a real increase in volume. “Combining the two will give you a hairstyle full of volume! Ask your hairdresser to opt for these techniques if you are looking for long-term volume . “
Our tip: Coloured hair requires care and appropriate shampoos. For a long-lasting colour and daily hydration, adapt the Colour Therapy ritual.
