Bridal hairstyles: 3 ideas for a chignon

The chignon remains one of the most classic hairstyles for brides, especially for those who have mid to long hair. It’s important to not dismiss it too quickly, as there are loads of different styles and variations of chignons. Here are three which you can choose from to suit your style.

The ballerina chignon: classic chic. If you like your hair to look impeccable, the ballerina chignon is for you! Start by straightening your hair, or if you already have smooth hair, just brush it. Next, tie all of your hair into a high ponytail, and then backcomb your hair to give your chignon maximum volume. Wrap your hair around the bobble and hold in place with hairgrips and hairspray. For an even more impressive effect, use a doughnut ring to wrap your hair around instead of just the hair band. And a huge advantage of this style is that it’s really easy to attach your veil to it!

The loose chignon: a bohemian look. Chignons don’t have to be tight and restricting if you prefer a more untidy, relaxed look. Create a side-parting before putting half of your hair into a loose plait, and tie it into a low ponytail. Then divide the rest of your hair into several parts, twist it all together and tie with the hair band. Keep it all into place with hairgrips and hairspray.

The backcombed chignon: a glam-rock look. For an incredibly sexy style, backcomb all of your hair to give it as much volume as possible. If you want to make your hairstyle and volume last longer, it’s a good idea to spray your roots with hairspray before backcombing. Then tie your hair back high on the top of your head and secure it with lots of hairgrips.
