Which glasses to wear with long hair?

Beyond being a simple eyesight tool, over time glasses have become a true fashion accessory in their own right. And some of you have to wear them every day. So you can’t just go out and buy the first pair you see. Here’s our advice on how to choose the right ones.

Trendy frames. Director Woody Allen seems to be a bit of a pioneer when it comes to stylish specs! His famous round nerdy glasses are a huge hit at the moment. Frames that are perfectly round at the bottom but squarer towards the top avoid taking the library geek look too far! Women should also consider cat-eye glasses for a 50s style. This model of frame arches slightly at the outer edges where the arms join the frame. Other frames to go for are thick- or fine-rimmed oversize frames. These will look particularly good on long haired ladies.

Which colour? You might have a favourite colour, but this doesn’t necessarily mean it will suit you. So make sure you try on plenty of different frames before making your decision. If the colour suits your face then go for it! If, however, you find it gives you a dull complexion, try another one. It’s generally best to opt for trendy, neutral shades. If you have long, fair hair, avoid overly dark colours, which can harden your features.

Styling your hair. If you have long hair and wear glasses, try to avoid flat styles, otherwise you’ll end up with a strict and severe secretary look. Avoid the ultra-tight ponytail at all costs. Instead go for a low side ponytail. You can also try waves, a tousled down-do or a loose braid.
