When it comes to make-up and colour there are certain rules you need to follow to make sure you don’t end up looking like a Barbie doll. For a radiant complexion, perfectly defined eyes and an irresistible smile, follow our advice. The complexion
. The most important thing is an even complexion to hide those imperfections, such as red patches that blondes often suffer from. “To do this, get your hands on a good liquid foundation in a shade that matches your natural skin tone. Look for a beige that suits your complexion.” If you have fair skin, choose a natural colour or a light beige. If you have olive skin you can get away with a pinkier beige, or a sandy or golden beige. “To add a touch of colour to your complexion, apply a blusher across your cheekbones. This will also add definition. Opt for a blusher in a pinky shade.” Eyes
. Blondes with brown eyes should go for warmer shades on their eyelids. Those with blue or green eyes should stick to cooler or lighter tones or even metallic eyeshadows for a night out. “Avoid tone-on-tone during the day. For example, forget blue eyeshadow if you have blue eyes... Instead go for taupe, mauve or grey.” Choose black or brown mascara for a bewitching look. Lips
. If you love rich red lipstick, forget it straight away... Unless you have olive skin. “If you have fair skin, it’s best to go for a nude gloss for a scintillating, ultra-natural smile. If you prefer lipstick, pink tones are best. In both cases, avoid dark colours such as plum or chocolate. These will harden your features and clash with your hair and skin colour. Our tip
For a flawless make-up look, keep it natural. If you get too carried away you’ll end up with a lifeless complexion or look like you’re trying too hard. It’s all about doing things in small doses!
