The sleek side piece, from the catwalk to the high street?
We’ve seen the “sporty chic wet look” on the catwalks. This trend mixes two textures in one style. Today a new trend is on the rise: the sleek side piece. Find out more.
Seen on the catwalks: the sleek side piece. The sleek side piece is on its way to becoming one of the hottest styles for people after a glam’rock result. Hair is ultra-slight and the front of the hair is worn slick across the forehead. It gives a hairstyle that chic, geometric feel. The glossy wet-look effect on hair worn across the forehead is created using a glossy textured styling product.
What do we keep? All of it… For a sophisticated night on the town! The sleek side piece can be worn on all hair types looking for an elegant, feminine result. However, this hairstyle is difficult to wear during the day. For the office it’s best to leave this piece of hair loose rather than slicking it down. Work the sleek effect on a night out for added class and refinement.
How to wear it. With a side parting. Those of you who prefer centre parting will have to forget this hairstyle. Whatever the length of your hair, wear it ultra-straight. Once you’ve created the parting on the side of your choice, use a fixing styling product to slick down the section of hair across the forehead. Avoid products that leave hair feeling stiff, you want your hair to look shiny and clean, not stiff as a board! Once you’ve applied your styling product, tuck the section of hair behind your ear on the side opposite to your parting.
