The sixties blow-dry makes a comeback

Both timeless and sophisticated, the sixties blow-dry is the perfect mix of glamour and fashion. Tips, advice, trends… Take a closer look at this hairstyle which accentuates your feminine side.

In the 60s, blow-dried backcombing became a cult hairstyle as glamorous style icons wore it such as Grace Kelly, Jackie Kennedy and Brigitte Bardot. Unlike the poker straight blow-dried style, it stands out with its soft, floaty and highly-voluminous look. In 2016, it has made a huge comeback by making an appearance at the Jeremy Scott fashion show during the New York Fall-Winter 2016-2017 Fashion Week. It gives you a retro, fashionable and elegant look, ideal for enhancing your features.

Who is it for?

Sixties blow-dry styling suits mid-length to long hair, whatever its type. Furthermore, it is perfect for blunt haircuts (not layered or thinned out) which keep a maximum of volume. Note that if your hair is naturally thick, you will be able to achieve the desired XXL volume much more easily. However, if your hair is fine, there is nothing stopping you from trying out this style with plenty of backcombing.

How can I create this look?

Just after washing your locks, start by applying Design Mousse to damp hair. This will coat the hair fibre whilst adding vitality, volume and hold. Then separate out a relatively large section and straighten it using a hair dryer and a round hairbrush. Once you have straightened this section, backcomb it at the roots by brushing it against the direction of growth. All you need do now is repeat this process all over. To finish, structure your hairstyle with a parting, in the middle or on one side, before applying hairspray for maximum hold.
