The bohemian half-ponytail
Until recently, everyone thought that the half-ponytail was dead and gone. But that was before Kate Middleton came on the scene. The Princess of Cambridge has brought this style back into the here and now without compromising her sophisticated style. Here are three new versions of the half-ponytail to try for a bohemian look.
The wispy half-ponytail. The idea is the same as the classic half-ponytail, in that you take sections of hair from around your face and pull them back to form a ponytail at the back of your head. For this version, create a centre parting, then take hair from the front and pull it back. Before securing, take out two fairly thick pieces of hair from the front on each side. Secure the rest of your hair at the back of your head.
The twisted half-ponytail. The twist has been a huge hit so far this summer, almost replacing the braid. It has been incorporated into so many different hairstyles, one of them being the half-ponytail! Start by creating a centre parting, then take two sections of hair from each side of your face, thick enough to be twisted. Twist each section of hair right to the ends and pull them back, joining them together if you like, before fixing with hairgrips.
The high half-ponytail. Starting with soft, straight hair, create a simple, messy half-ponytail for an effortless bohemian look. To do this, create a centre parting then take two thin pieces of hair from the front of your head. Pull these pieces back and fix them as high as possible, as seen on the Just Cavalli catwalk.
